We’ve always believed that home is about so much more than four walls. It’s about comfort, dignity, and most importantly feeling safe. That is why we are now a proud supporter of Furnishing Futures, a charity creating healing homes that bring hope and dignity to women and children who have escaped domestic abuse and been placed in empty social housing.

Why this matters

Furniture poverty is a devastating issue for more than 14 million people in the UK, and is a problem that is literally hidden behind closed doors. Less than 2% of social housing comes furnished.

For vulnerable women and children fleeing domestic abuse, being placed into empty social housing leaves them feeling worthless and compounds their trauma. Buying essential items is also a leading cause of debt for vulnerable families, keeping them in poverty. Despite this, 22 million pieces of furniture end up in landfill every year, much of which is in new or as new condition. This is why Furnishing Futures exists - a sustainable solution to two unsustainable problems.

How we’re supporting Furnishing Futures

From this season, we will be supporting Furnishing Futures by donating our end-of-line stock.

“Giving in this way is a natural extension of the business, one we’ve been committed to for years now. These pieces are going straight into homes where warmth and familiarity can make a real difference, and that’s why I’m so pleased we’re able to contribute to an amazing cause such as Furnishing Futures” - Sophie, Sophie Home Founder & Designer

We’re incredibly grateful to Furnishing Futures for the work they do, and we’re proud to support them now and into the future. You can learn more about their work or get involved at www.furnishingfutures.org.
