Important information for customers ordering from the European Union

Sophie Home is based in the United Kingdom. Following changes to European Union customs regulations, orders shipped from the UK to EU countries may be subject to additional import duties, taxes and customs handling charges.

These charges are determined by EU customs regulations and the arrangements used to import and deliver your order.

New EU Customs Duty: €3 per Product Category

From 1 July 2026, the EU introduced a new customs duty of €3 per distinct tariff classification on qualifying imported orders valued at €150 or less.

The charge is calculated according to the customs classification of the products in your parcel, rather than simply the number of products purchased.

For example:

• Three tea towels with the same tariff classification: €3 customs duty.

• Two tea towels and one cushion cover with different tariff classifications: €6 customs duty.

• Two tea towels, one cushion cover and one wash bag, each belonging to a different tariff classification: €9 customs duty.

These examples are illustrative. Actual charges depend on how the products are classified and declared to customs, and whether an exemption or preferential arrangement applies.

Product Tariff Codes

Each Sophie Home product has a customs tariff code used to classify it when entering the EU.

The following table shows the tariff codes for our product ranges and can help you understand how the €3 customs duty may be calculated.

EU Import Duties, Taxes & Delivery Charges

Sophie Home ships EU orders on a Delivered at Place (DAP) basis. This means that applicable import duties, taxes and customs clearance charges are not included in our product prices or delivery fees.

Depending on your order and destination country, you may be required to pay:

• The €3 EU customs duty for each distinct goods classification on qualifying orders valued at €150 or less.
  

• Import VAT, where this has not already been collected.

• Any administration or customs clearance fees charged by the delivery provider.

Your delivery provider may contact you to arrange payment of these charges before your order can be delivered.

Please note: These charges are separate from Sophie Home's product and delivery prices. The amount payable depends on the contents and value of your order, the destination country and the applicable customs arrangements.

Orders Over €150

For orders exceeding €150, standard EU customs duty rules generally apply instead of the temporary €3 flat-rate system.

The amount of duty depends on the products, their country of origin and any applicable trade agreements.

EU Consumer Rights & Legal Guarantee

Customers purchasing goods covered by EU consumer protection rules benefit from a minimum two-year legal guarantee.

If a product is faulty or does not match its description, customers are entitled to a repair or replacement free of charge, or, where applicable, a price reduction or refund.

Some EU countries provide additional protections under national law.
